Nollywood actress, Ruby Ojiakor, got married to her colleague, Moc Madu, popularly known as Onwa Idemili, just three days after his proposal, sparking controversies on social media.
The couple had their traditional marriage rites in Amarak, Isi-Ala Mbano, Imo State, flooding the Internet with loads of videos from the grand celebration.
However, what was meant to be the beginning of a beautiful forever has been clouded by whispers and heated speculation. While many congratulated them, others questioned the speed at which the union progressed, Ruby’s high-energy dance moves, and the absence of Nollywood stars at the event.
While fans gushed over the wedding videos, criticisms quickly followed. Many took issue with Ruby’s electrifying display, arguing that it was excessive for a bride.
In one of the videos Ojiakor, pulled off her shoes, and handed someone her purse in a rush while she danced around her husband, after which she knelt down to ‘fan him’, saluting him in the process.
In another video, she was seen donning her traditional attire and dancing energetically to the songs by the live band, her boobs almost spilling out of her dress; an action that got people talking.
The absence of prominent figures such as Destiny Etiko, Ekene Umenwa and Zubby Michael, who are known to be close friends of Ojiakor, was another point that got people talking. According to an online critic, Ojiakor’s marriage was ignored by Nollywood stars because they believed she “settled below her class”.
Meanwhile, the groom’s sister, Blessing Nkem, came to his defence. In a video posted on social media, she slammed critics, claiming that her brother is a wealthy man who simply prefers a private lifestyle. She denied allegations that Ruby funded the wedding, insisting that Madu is financially capable and deeply in love with his wife.
Addressing concerns over Ojiakor colleagues not gracing her big day, Evan Okoro, a Nollywood actress, stated in a TikTok video that the couple did not invite them, but promised to do so during their church wedding.
Amid all the controversies, the bride has remained silent, rather flooding her social media pages with pictures of how her husband’s family welcomed her.
Meanwhile, pictures of the actress in a wedding gown also surfaced online. Fans and critics are eagerly waiting for her to publicly post or share the moment.
