EXCLUSIVE: Corbin Bernsen (Clipped) has wrapped production on Woodstockers, an indie TV pilot for which he wrote the original draft, in which he stars opposite Stephen Tobolowsky (Nobody Wants This).

The original logline for the dark generational comedy teased the story of “two guys who went to Woodstock in ’69 and never left,” with Bernsen and Tobolowsky respectively playing friends Lenny Baker and Cal Reddick. But per Bernsen, who relocated to the Hudson Vally six years ago, “Early on I had the good fortune to connect with Michael Lang, one of the original organizers of Woodstock, and quickly discovered a deeper story about the 60’s and a generation who espoused ‘Love and Peace,’ but failed in their early attempts to ‘change the world.’ At the same time, I witnessed a new generation dusting off the “hippie” mantra and giving it their own spin.”

Woodstockers‘ cast also includes Oscar nominee Barbara Hershey (The Portrait of a Lady) as Lenny’s wife Rebecca, and Maggie Lawson (Psych) as Bernsen’s ultra-conservative daughter, Alice. Others on the call sheet included Susan Ruttan (A Man on the Inside), John Glover (Smallville), Lea DeLaria (Orange Is the New Black), Lee Wilkof and Willie C. Carpenter (Reacher).

Bernsen co-wrote additional drafts of the pilot with Joshua Michael Stern (Jobs). Oliver Bernsen directed, having also recently wrapped production on his first feature Bagworm, which is scheduled to premiere this year. Zoe Rosenberg produced along with Bernsen through her Choxiee banner.

Indie TV pilots have been having a moment of late, with Mark Duplass’s Penelope being one notable success story, striking distribution deals with Netflix and Fremantle after premiering at last year’s Sundance Film Festival. At Sundance 2025, Cooper Raiff unveiled his independently produced series Hal & Harper, in which he stars opposite Lili Reinhart and Mark Ruffalo, with Lionsgate TV repping it for sales. Recently, we were also first to report on Books, an indie TV pilot starring Spencer Grammer and Ajay Naidu, from director Micah Khan.

Next to be seen on Apple TV+’s Your Friends and Neighbors and J.J. Abrams’ Max series Duster, the elder Bernsen is repped by Paradigm and Randy James Management. Seen on the hit Netflix series Nobody Wants This, Tobolowsky is repped by Innovative Artists and Framework Entertainment. Stern is with Innovative and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
