The attendee killed in the shooting at Donald Trump‘s rally on Saturday was identified as Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old firefighter with a wife and two daughters who “died a hero,” said Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

“Corey dove on his family to protect them last night to protect them as this rally,” Shapiro said, relaying a message after speaking to Comperatore’s wife.

“Corey was the very best of us. May his memory be a blessing,” Shapiro told reporters.

The FBI said that one male attendee was killed and two others critically injured when the shooter opened fire on the rally. Former President Donald Trump also was injured, but is doing “fine,” according to the campaign.

Shapiro said that Comperatore “went to church every Sunday” and “loved his community,” and “most especially Corey loved his family.” “Corey was an avid supporter of the former president, and was so excited to be there last night with him in the community,” he said.
