Corey Graves has been an important voice for WWE, working as a commentator for many years. Recently, there has been some controversy after he shared his frustration about being moved to NXT commentary. This week, Graves was also missing from WWE Speed, which he has been part of since it started and this has raised more questions about his status.
After missing the January 14 episode of WWE NXT, fans speculated about his involvement in the January 15 edition of WWE Speed. For the January 15 Speed episode, which featured Chad Gable facing NXT star Charlie Dempsey, Graves was again absent. Instead, Blake Howard filled in as the play-by-play commentator for the match, marking the first time Graves didn’t do the voice-over for the show.
Graves is said to be unhappy after being moved to WWE NXT as part of a recent shake-up in the commentary teams. Michael Cole and Pat McAfee returned to Raw, while Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett took over SmackDown.
Graves’ move to NXT has sparked rumors, with reports from Fightful Select indicating signs of real frustration from the veteran commentator. Sources close to Graves state that his frustration is genuine, although it’s unclear if the situation is part of a storyline or a real issue.
Graves signed a new contract with WWE in January 2024 and still has several years left. He lives in Pittsburgh, which is far from WWE’s base in Florida. Despite this, WWE officials believe he could return to Raw or SmackDown by spring. They have praised him for being flexible and dedicated to his role. Regardless, we’ll have to see when Graves will return to WWE television as fans continue to speculate about his future in the company.
Do you think Corey Graves’ absence is part of a storyline or is it a sign of deeper frustration with his role in WWE? Will he return to Raw or SmackDown soon? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below!
