Corey Graves’ WWE future might be locked in, but that hasn’t stopped the drama from piling up. After venting on social media and drawing criticism from Booker T, it seems Graves is still catching strays—this time live on commentary at NXT Vengeance Day.
During the Strap Match between Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe, the tension in the booth was impossible to ignore. Graves, Booker T, and Vic Joseph were all at the table, and while their back-and-forth mostly stuck to the match, Joseph couldn’t help but sneak in a jab.
At one point, Joseph turned to Graves and casually asked if he planned on returning to social media (to complain)—a clear reference to the online controversy that had Booker T speaking out in the first place. Graves didn’t fire back, but the moment didn’t go unnoticed by fans who have been keeping tabs on this real-life tension.
This all comes after Booker T’s blunt criticism of how Graves handled the speculation about his WWE future. On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker didn’t mince words about Graves venting online instead of keeping things behind closed doors.
“Certain things, I don’t know, shouldn’t be in the Twittersphere, just because I don’t think it’s their business, especially when it comes to your jobs,” Booker said. “Everybody wants to put their lives on Twitter with their followers and everybody to be a part of their lives. I don’t know, I don’t get that part right there.”
It didn’t end there. Booker admitted he hasn’t confronted Graves yet—but that could change soon. “We’re not cool, not cool at all—I didn’t like the tweet. I didn’t tell him I didn’t like it, but I’m sure there perhaps will come a time when I might say it.”
Graves, who recently returned to NXT commentary after a brief absence, has two years left on his WWE deal, but the backstage tension with Booker T is clearly sticking around. Whether this turns into a full-blown confrontation or just stays a cold war on the headset remains to be seen.
