What it was supposed to be. While most wrestling matches tend to feature two wrestlers in the ring at once, there is a third person there who who has quite the role of their own. That would be the referee, who is in charge of keeping charge of everything in the match. Sometimes a referee has to do something different with it though, which is exactly what happened this weekend.

On Saturday at WWE Bad Blood, Rhea Ripley unsuccessfully challenged Liv Morgan for the WWE Women’s World Title. Late in the match, Raquel Rodriguez returned and attacked Ripley to cause a disqualification. According to Fightful Select by way of Cagesideseats.com, the original final called for Morgan to pin Ripley, but the referee called for the disqualification when the interference took place right in front of him. As a result, he had no choice but to call for the disqualification.

It was a busy night. Check out the match and the fallout:

Opinion: This isn’t something that happens very often but it is nice to see this kind of logic. There was no way for the referee to be able to ignore everything and it would have been ridiculous to try. This way the match does feel like it has a more logical ending and that is all that it needed to be. Rodriguez interfering was a good way to go and hopefully it keeps things interesting moving forward.
