EXCLUSIVE: Couple to Throuple, the Peacock dating format that explored the world of polyamory, has been put on ice indefinitely.

A Peacock spokesperson stressed that the show from Fremantle-backed Planet Sex producer Naked “has not been canceled officially,” but said “there are no plans for future seasons at this time.”

Revealed by Deadline 18 months ago, Couple to Throuple is one of the first known formats to explore polyamory. Hosted by Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans and with contribution from sex expert Shamyra Howard, it followed four couples as they experimented with bringing a third partner into their relationship, featuring contestants including Brittne Babe, a celebrity personal trainer with a clientele including Jada Pinkett Smith, and Ashmal Ali, a Chicago attorney.

Set on a remote tropical resort, the couples met, mingled and dated others, many of whom were experienced in polyamory.  At the end of the show, the couples decided if they wanted more than just “the one” and whether to commit as a throuple, go home as they arrived, or leave separately. Producer Naked had experience in the space, having made BBC-Hulu doc series Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne, which included explorations of monogamy and polyamory.

The show kicked off in February, around the time that NBC unscripted bosses Corie Henson and Rachel Smith told a TCA unscripted universe panel: “We are open, we are buying.”

At the time, the pair cited Couple to Throuple along with the returning Queen’s Court and the success of the likes of The Traitors and Love Undercover.
