About 400 courier companies in the country have undergone a day’s safety training to better serve their customers.

The training programme, sponsored by Yango Delivery, formed part of the commitment of the company to protect commuters.

Also as part of the programme, the courier companies, which are partners of Yango Delivery, a part of global tech company Yango Group, were awarded for their excellent service in parcel delivery.

They received smartphones, plaques, fuel coupons, hampers and special souvenirs.

Three outstanding couriers were presented with a motor bicycles each.

Speaking at the event, Emmanuel Koduah, Country Manager of Yango Delivery in Ghana, acknowledged the importance of road safety for all and the central role played by partners’ couriers in the positive growth trajectory of the delivery sector in the country.

“Our goal is to build on successful partnerships and contribute to the advancement of safety and industry standards. That is why it is so important for us to recognise the efforts of partners’ couriers who collaborate with our platform.”

Throughout this year, Yango had held several events to support partners’ couriers, recognise their immense contributions and to provide them with useful information about road safety.

Mr Koduah stated that Yango was committed to road safety, acknowledging it as a shared societal responsibility that required everyone to play a role.

Mr Koduah further indicated that in collaboration with Provident Insurance, his outfit had introduced specialised free accident insurance to help protect couriers from potential financial losses in case of service-related incidents.

He said to improve the financial literacy of partner couriers, they were taken through topics such as building healthy savings and investment culture.

“The highlight of the event was the awards ceremony and the launch of the partner’s couriers insurance programme,” Mr Koduah stated, adding that “Effective November 2024 all partners’ couriers will benefit from a personal insurance cover in case of health related incidents while fulfilling orders with the Yango app.”

The Managing Director of Provident Insurance, Ken Doh, speaking on the insurance for the courier companies, stated that, “We are thrilled to partner with Yango to deliver innovative insurance products that cater to the unique needs of the delivery tech industry. This collaboration aligns with our commitment to providing tailored solutions and to enhancing the overall confidence to all road users.”
