The Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has deferred the verdict on a lawsuit brought by dismissed elected officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, led by Emeka Beke, against the party’s National Executive and the Seven-man Caretaker Committee in the state under Tony Okocha.

The suit, filed by Sam Sam Etetegwung on behalf of all elected executive members of APC, also includes the Inspector General of Police, the Nigerian Police Force, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants.

Etetegwung, Banarth Ezemoye, and Ezekiel Ubom, representing the elected executives of APC, are contesting their removal of Beke and the appointment of the caretaker committee led by Okocha.

During the recent court session, legal representatives for the involved parties presented their arguments and finalized their written submissions.

Following this, Justice Sika Aprioku, the Presiding Judge, decided to withhold the judgment and will inform the parties of the scheduled date within 48 hours.

Additionally, Aprioku rejected an application for joinder by APC members loyal to Victor Giadom, the Vice Chairman of APC, South-South, citing lack of merit and imposed a fine of N300,000 in favour of the claimants.
