A High Court in Rivers State, situated in Port Harcourt, is set to announce its ruling today, August 12, 2024, concerning a lawsuit initiated by the elected executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the state, local government, and ward levels, led by Emeka Beke.

Naija News reports that this suit is directed against the national executive of the party and the seven-member Caretaker Committee in Rivers State, chaired by Tony Okocha.

Justice Sika Aprioku, who presides over the case, has reserved the judgment following the presentation of arguments and final written submissions from the legal representatives of both parties during the last hearing.

Aprioku had said the date for the judgment would be communicated within 48 hours.

In a recent court circular obtained by journalists, Justice Aprioku indicated that the ruling would be delivered virtually at noon on August 12, 2024.

He emphasized the importance of punctuality for the counsels and noted that security measures would be intensified around the court premises.

Sam Etetegwung, who represents the ousted state executive of the APC, along with Banarth Ezemoye and Ezekiel Ubom, representing the local government and ward executives, are seeking a judicial interpretation of the APC constitution and relevant Nigerian laws concerning their suspension and the subsequent establishment of the Caretaker Committee led by Okocha.
