Coventry boss Mark Robins is ‘going to kill’ players for shock way they decided penalty taker

Haji Wright and Callum O’Hare risked the wrath of their manager by how they decided who was going to take a key penalty.

Coventry were 1-0 down against Millwall and won a spot-kick to get back on level terms.

However, Wright and O’Hare had a debate over who was going to take it and had to settle it with a game of rock, paper, scissors.

Wright won and duly converted the penalty before adding a second just minutes later.

Thankfully he did as manager Mark Robins would have been furious with them.

He told talkSPORT: “I'm going to kill them - Rock, paper, scissors to decide a penalty taker! 

“Haji's taken penalties, Callum had one and scored his last one. Haji's a penalty taker regularly in Turkey, so I had no problem with that. It's just the outcome of it, you want that to be a decisive action. 

“Thankfully he was clear in his brain once he'd become clear on that, but I will have a chat with them about that.”

Wright was prolific in the Turkish Super Lig with Antalyaspor before moving to the Championship side last summer.

Robins’ side are looking to get back into the play-offs this season after suffering heartbreak in the final last year.

They are currently in sixth place, clinging onto the final play-off spot by goal difference.
