Cristiano Ronaldo appears to rub rival shirt against crotch and throw it to fans

Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to rub a rival shirt against his crotch following an Al Nassr defeat on Thursday.

The Portuguese superstar was playing for Al Nassr in a Riyadh Season Cup match against fierce rivals Al Hilal.

Playing at the home of their rivals, Ronaldo was unable to prevent his side falling to a 2-0 defeat thanks to goals from Salem Al-Dawsari and Sergei-Milinkovic Savic.

After the game, the 39-year-old was making his way down the tunnel to the dressing room when an Al Hilal fan threw their club's shirt at him.

Ronaldo picked up the shirt and appeared to put it down its shorts before throwing it back into the stands.

It is not the first time the Manchester United and Real Madrid legend has hit the headlines for an apparent obscene gesture.

In April 2023, the forward appeared to grab his crotch as he left the pitch, with supporters chanting the name of Lionel Messi inside the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.

If deliberate, that sort of behaviour is considered illegal in Saudi Arabia.

After the video emerged on social media, lawyer Nouf bin Ahmed said she filed a complaint with the Saudi Prosecutor's Office, adding Ronaldo was accused of committing 'a crime of public indecency' and called for him to be deported.

The incident made headlines in Saudi Arabia, with hours of coverage on 'Action ya Dawri', the most popular sports programme in the Kingdom.

Al Nassr defused the situation by releasing a club statement, insisting Ronaldo was nursing an injury.
