Cristiano Ronaldo is tipped to emulate Diego Simeone and Zinedine Zidane by embarking on a coaching career after hanging up his boots.
The Portuguese star has given no indication of retirement, with the player still in fine form at 39. Last season he scored 50 goals for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr in the Pro League, before appearing in his 11th major international competition at Euro 2024.
When the day comes to end his playing career, CR7 is tipped by his former Manchester United teammate Louis Saha to take a place on the bench. The Frenchman explained to CSDB.gg why Ronaldo would make a great coach: ” Cristiano Ronaldo has the ability to be a very successful manager, we have seen his energy and passion. He would have the desire of Diego Simeone and the credibility of Zinedine Zidane. That combination, plus his experience under Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Sir Alex Ferguson, would bring an incredible amount of knowledge. It is not just about football, but he represents so many things about how to behave and achieve your goals, that he could be a manager or a club president. It is admirable what he has done, he is a human being who makes mistakes like everyone else but he has never stopped working hard.
Cr7 like Zidane?
Ronaldo does not need to extend his association with professional football when he hangs up his boots, as he has earned enough money to last several lifetimes. Saha nevertheless believes he will become a coach, but he adds that the legacy has already been set: “Cristiano Ronaldo has proven everything he has to prove, he has no obligation to do anything else now – he has done everything. He is the best ambassador for the sport in general. I have not seen any athlete in the world sacrifice as much as he has. Some will call him obsessed or crazy, but he is the greatest to ever do it. I respect the player and the man, and not just because I played with him. It doesn’t matter where he retires because of what he has done for football.
Ronaldo has joined Al-Nassr with 12 months left on his contract in the Middle East and could decide to stay until the 2026 World Cup, although the idea of a return to Lisbon and Sporting, his first club, never seems far away.
