Cristiano Ronaldo, humiliation in the public square

Cristiano Ronaldo has a stormy relationship with Saudi fans, who seem to have found a way to annoy him.

The Portuguese is adored by Al-Nassr fans, but every time he travels elsewhere, he is greeted with chants in praise of Leo Messi, which gave rise to two outbursts. The first time was after a friendly match against Al-Hilal.

Coming down from the tunnel, he had a scarf thrown from the stands, which he picked up and rubbed against his crotch. After receiving more “Messi” chants during Al-Nassr’s 3-2 victory over Al-Shabab on Sunday night, he pointed his crotch at fans and made a gesture whose meaning isn’t all quite clear, although he didn’t seem friendly.

A mandatory public declaration

As reported by Al-Riyadhiah, taken up by Diario AS, the Saudi Pro League’s disciplinary and ethics committee will ask Ronaldo to make a statement in order to obtain his version of the facts.

If the former Real Madrid star is found to have made an obscene and offensive gesture, then he risks being banned. The sanction would cover two matches and Ronaldo could also be fined.
