Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has backed Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford in the future.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United from Juventus in the summer of 2021, but his high-profile move lasted just 15 months as he left the club unceremoniously in November 2022 following a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. The 39-year-old then joined the Saudi Pro League in January 2023 and has since played with Al-Nassr in the Middle East. He was the league’s top scorer in the 2023-24 campaign.

Former United and France striker Louis Saha recently spoke about his former team-mate, backing the Portuguese’s return to Old Trafford in the future as a manager. He even believes Ronaldo will become a very good manager, but he needs to change his attitude for that to happen.

Cristiano Ronaldo heading for a return to MU?

“Cristiano Ronaldo has the passion and determination to return to Manchester United one day, whether as a coach or even as a manager. His second spell didn’t end up the way everyone had hoped and you can understand why that frustrated him, he didn’t see the same formula and didn’t see the passion from the young players that he was used to seeing.

“Now he will know that he has to find a new way of communicating when he becomes a manager, which may not be as harsh or direct as when he was at the club. He will find how to succeed and use all his knowledge to do so, we saw Roy Keane go into management and succeed. Cristiano knows what he has to do as a manager and I see no reason why he wouldn’t succeed.”

The Real Madrid legend started the new season on a disappointing note, with Al-Nassr losing 4-1 to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup. He will be in action again on Thursday, when Al-Nassr take on Al-Raed in their first Saudi Pro League match.
