TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reported in 2021 that a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, ordered Daddy Freeze to pay N5m for committing adultery with Benedicta Elechi. He was ordered to pay the money to Paul Odekina, who was married to Elechi at the time the adulterous act was committed.

Unsatisfied with the ruling, Daddy Freeze appealed to the Court of Appeal, argued that Odekina did not serve him with court papers personally before applying for substituted service which violated Order 7 Rule 2 of the Rules of the Trial Court.

After 3 years of back and forth, a three-person panel of Justice Abubakar Talba, Danlami Senchi, and Hannatu Balogun dismissed Daddy Freeze’s appeal for lack of merit.

The court ruled that if the appellant wanted to overturn the trial court’s judgment due to non-service, he should have filed a counter-affidavit against the affidavit of service and then sought to set aside the trial court’s judgment.

Reacting to it in an Instagram live video, Daddy stated that he had no problem paying an N5million fine as his watches alone cost over N100million.

He, however, maintained his innocence, adding that he will not lose. He claimed that the incident happened years ago when he was going through serious torment, and so was the lady, and they both linked up years later in a Church.

He said, “I Will Pay The N5Million Adultery Fine; my Watches alone Cost Over N100Million, But I Am Innocent, and I will not lose; I am innocent; this happened Many years ago. I was Going Through serious Torment, so was the lady, and we both Jam many years later in Church; this happened over 12 years ago”.
