While the release on bail of Dani Alves caused a huge scandal, despite a prison sentence of four and a half years, the Brazilian's wife, Joana Sanz, was also targeted for her support of the former Barça full-back.

Sentenced Thursday February 22 to four years and six months in prison for rape, for acts committed in a nightclub in December 2022, Dani Alves obtained his release on bail for one million euros. The former Brazilian international will have to surrender his two passports (he is also of Spanish nationality) and will be placed under house arrest, in the villa near the Camp Nou that he bought for five million euros in 2010.

The former Barça and PSG player should not live with his wife, Joana Sanz. If the latter requested a divorce, she supported the 40-year-old Auriverde during the trial. After the announcement of the upcoming release of Dani Alves, the model from the Canary Islands was also the target of criticism. Radical decision: she deactivated her Instagram account, which she updated daily.

Dani Alves still in prison

Note that Dani Alves has not yet managed to raise the amount requested by the Barcelona court and that he remains in prison while waiting to pay one million euros in full. Neymar's father, who was close to the six-time Champions League winner, denied wanting to financially support the condemned man.

In Brazil too, the release of Dani Alves caused a scandal. Brazilian President Lula himself regretted this court decision, saying that “the money that Daniel Alves has, the money that someone could lend him, cannot redeem a man's offense against a woman he raped”. But the release is indeed imminent.
