Brazilian international Dani Alves, sentenced to four years in prison for sexual assault on February 22, could be released this week.

Incarcerated since January 2023, Dani Alves saw his lawyers request his acquittal, arguing that the sexual relations with the complainant were consensual.

The court's decision, expected this Tuesday morning, will be decisive for the future of the former FC Barcelona player.

Alves doesn't want to run away

In a statement to the judge relayed by AS, Alves affirmed his confidence in justice and denied any intention to flee the country in the event of provisional release.

“I believe in justice, I will not run away”, he assured.
