While PSG hoped to take advantage of FC Barcelona’s administrative setbacks to secure the services of Dani Olmo, the Spanish attacking midfielder expressed, via his agent, his firm desire to stay in Catalonia. A statement which puts an end, for the moment, to rumors of an imminent transfer to Paris.

Olmo determined to win at Barça

FC Barcelona is currently entangled in a financial imbroglio, making the approval of Dani Olmo’s contract uncertain. This blockage could have allowed the Spanish international to leave free in January, an opportunity that several European clubs, including PSG, wanted to seize. But the player’s agent, Andy Bara, was adamant:

“The decision made by Dani is to stay at Barcelona because he wants to play for Barça. We are not considering any other options. »

Trained at La Masia, Olmo realizes his childhood dream by wearing the Blaugrana jersey, and he does not seem ready to let go despite the administrative uncertainties surrounding his future.

PSG will have to wait

Luis Enrique, PSG coach, would have been particularly interested in the technical and versatile profile of Olmo, whom he knows well having launched him into the national team in 2019. Despite Parisian interest, Dani Olmo does not intend to leave Barcelona , thus confirming his attachment to his training club. A position which forces PSG to explore other avenues to strengthen its midfield.

An uncertain future despite everything

If Dani Olmo’s loyalty to Barça is clear, the Catalan club remains under threat of financial and legal constraints. If Barça fails to regularize Olmo’s situation before the deadline imposed by La Liga, the player could be forced to reconsider his position, leaving the door ajar to a possible transfer.
