Showtime announced director Daniel Peddle’s Beyond The Aggressives: 25 Years Later documentary will debut on streaming and on-air for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan on Saturday, March 30 and premiere that day at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.

The film, which was nominated for the Outstanding Documentary Feature at the GLAAD Media Awards this year, is a follow-up to Peddle’s groundbreaking 2005 film The Aggressives, which will premiere streaming and on-air March 5 on Paramount+ with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan. March 31 marks International Transgender Day of Visibility.

Beyond The Aggressives: 25 Years Later revisits four of the original subjects from The Aggressives, a doc centering transmasculine people of color who were assigned female at birth, enlightening viewers on what has transpired in their lives since the first film was made. The now iconic Kisha, Trevon, Octavio and Chin are back, sharing an array of their triumphs and challenges including pursuing dreams in the arts, surviving the experience of being held in ICE detention, reuniting with estranged children, deciding whether to start families of their own, and seeking gender-affirming healthcare.

Through the voices of today’s queer BIPOC, who felt represented by The Aggressives , the new film also delves into how much the language, culture and visibility of the transgender, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming community has evolved, and grapples with the many complexities of gender identity, expectations and expression. All combined, these stories and testimonials reveal insights into the queer experience and paint a portrait of four subjects.

In support of both of Peddle’s films debuting on the service, Showtime is collaborating with organizations including GLAAD, GLSEN AND Trans Equity Consulting to launch an impact campaign that aims to expand conversations about identity, visibility, and a reimagined future for trans and gender non-conforming people. Viewers will have the opportunity to learn more, and find ways to support the community through an action hub and social content. Showtime will also offer free screenings to schools, community groups, and local institutions across the country alongside a toolkit and discussion guide to foster meaningful conversations and community activations around the film.

Peddle has directed six feature films, including the narratives Sunset Edge (2014) and Moss (2017), starring Mitchell Slaggert (The Sex Lives of College Girls). Film projects in development include Rose Moon, an unconventional love story inspired by true events.

Beyond The Aggressives: 25 Years Later  is produced by Wellington Love with executive producers Robert A. Maylor, Tiq Milan, Stephen Friedman, Jacqueline Woodson, Kristen Wolf and Gerald Herman. The film was edited by Yvette Wojciechowski with cinematography by Daniel Peddle and Jeanny Tsai and music by Aidan Salier.
