Danielle Brooks is teasing the upcoming season of Peacemaker and her new film Minecraft.
The Color Purple star talked to Deadline on the red carpet of the Critics Choice Awards, where she talked about her upcoming projects.
“It’s happening,” Brooks told us. “That’s all I know. It’s happening. When? Not quite sure.”
She continued, “I think this year, hopefully, we’ll get started.”
Another project that Brooks is a part of is Minecraft, a live-action take on the computer game where she will play the role of Dawn.
“I’m so excited about working on Minecraft,” Brooks said. “I just met Jack Black at the Golden Globes and we took a picture together. That was really cool. And working with Jason Momoa, I’m really excited about this project and staying in the Warner Bros. family.”
Jared Hess, the director of comedy films like Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, is behind the adaptation of the movie. Momoa is set to star alongside Brooks, Black, Sebastian Eugene Hansen and Wednesday’s Emma Myers.
Brooks starred in the first season of the DC series Peacemaker, playing the role of Leota Adebayo, the daughter of A.R.G.U.S. leader Amanda Waller, who was portrayed by Viola Davis in the DC Extended Universe in 2016’s Suicide Squad and 2021’s The Suicide Squad, as well as 2022’s Black Adam.
John Cena plays the titled character, who first made an on-screen appearance in The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn.
