Danilo bids Juventus farewell, aims several digs at the management: “I can no longer be part of this project”

Danilo saluted Juventus fans as his contract termination was made official on Monday. The former club captain bid the Bianconeri farewell with an open letter that included a few subtle digs at the management.

The 33-year-old was a stalwart at the club in recent years and inherited the captain’s armband in the summer of 2023 having already cemented himself as the de facto locker-room leader.

However, the versatile defender’s situation drastically changed with the arrival of Thiago Motta who opted to deploy younger profiles from the get-go, leaving the veteran starving for playing time, especially in the first few months of the season.

Therefore, the two parties have been working on rescinding their contract for weeks, and the official confirmation has finally arrived on Monday.
