Darby Allin, known for his toughness and ability to withstand extreme pain, has been a key name in AEW since the start. However, his reckless in-ring antics are always a cause for concern for many fans and now it appears Allin has revealed he thought he broke a rib after a dangerous spot.
Earlier this year, Darby Allin had to cancel his planned Mount Everest climb in March after breaking his foot during a match against Jay White at Dynamite: Big Business. Allin was also hit by a bus during his injury absence and that simply made things worse for him.
Darby Allin took a rough bump on the November 6th episode of AEW Dynamite when he was tossed by Claudio Castagnoli and bounced off the ring post. Allin crashed to the floor after hitting the post, but fortunately, he was okay.
While speaking on 693 SENQ, Darby Allin talked about his experience, stating that he’s used to taking such risks. Despite the bumps and bruises, he expressed that he tries to avoid serious injuries, though he sometimes feels like he’s “dodging bullets.” After being thrown into the steel post by Claudio, he thought his ribs might have been broken, but he shrugged it off, saying it’s all part of the craziness he loves about wrestling.
“I’m used to it. I just want to stay in one piece and not end up going to the hospital. I feel like I’m dodging bullets. After last week of getting thrown into the steel post by Claudio, I thought my ribs broke for a second. When I hit the ground I was like ‘Ughh.’ This is what I live for. I live for the craziness. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Claudio also swung Darby Allin into a garage door during the November 13th episode of AEW Dynamite as well. Regardless, fans hope Darby Allin simply stops taking such dangerous spots as they fear he might end up getting a permanent injury in the future.
