The ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ series by Vice Media has captivated many viewers by delving into the darker facets of professional wrestling, revealing hidden and often obscure details about specific wrestlers and organizations. The fifth season will air this year and now the topics for the show have been unveiled.
Vice Media, including Vice TV, filed for bankruptcy on May 15, 2023, with the intention of facilitating potential sale of Vice Media for $225 million. Amid concerns about the impact on ‘Dark Side of the Ring,’ co-creator Evan Husney reassured fans that the series would remain unaffected by the bankruptcy proceedings.
As previously reported, ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ is set to return for its fifth season and will be premiering in March. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, upcoming episodes for the new season of ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ are set to cover some major stories.
This includes stories on Brutus Beefcake, Harley Race, Buff Bagwell, Kurt Angle, Chris Adams, The Sandman, and the significant event known as Black Saturday when Vince McMahon purchased Georgia Championship Wrestling in 1984 to secure the TBS time slot.
‘‘For the new season of Dark Side of the Ring, we know of these episodes: Brutus Beefcake, Harley Race, Buff Bagwell, Kurt Angle, Chris Adams, Sandman and Black Saturday (when Vince McMahon purchased Georgia Championship Wrestling to get access to the TBS time slot in 1984).”
The fourth season of Dark Side of the Ring, spanning from May 30, 2023, to August 8, 2023, delved into the lives of wrestling personalities such as Doink The Clown, Marty Jannetty, The Junkyard Dog, Abdullah the Butcher, and Bam Bam Bigelow. With the anticipation building for the fifth season, both fans and critics are eager to discover the new revelations and stories that it will bring to light.
