Darren Fletcher’s days at Manchester United could be numbered as Sir Jim Ratcliffe prepares to make more changes to the club’s structure after becoming co-owner.
The former United midfielder currently operates as technical director, but it is understood that he has not been assured of staying at Old Trafford under the new regime.
One appointment we can expect to happen is Dan Ashworth, who is one of football’s most respected sporting directors, once Newcastle take him off gardening leave. He will join our new chief executive Omar Berrada from Man City.
However, that is only the start of it. Southampton director of football Jason Wilcox has also been linked with a role.
Darren Fletcher and Matt Hargreaves could be among the departures at United as part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s planned structural changes, as per the Manchester Evening News.
A well-placed source told the outlet that there will be “lots of changes to come.”
Hargreaves, a lesser known figure among fans, only assumed the role of transfer negotiator last summer. Fletcher became technical director in March 2021.
The report adds that it remains unknown if football director John Murtough will remain in a more administrative role.
