While Darwin Nunez’s performances at Liverpool FC have been mixed, a former Manchester United star has surprised everyone by choosing him over the Manchester club’s recent signing, Rasmus Hojlund.
Darwin Nunez has yet to fully convince at Liverpool and will try to do so next season under Arne Slot, the new Reds coach. Arrived from Benfica in the summer of 2022 for an estimated €85 million, the Uruguayan striker is still struggling to justify his transfer price.
However, on the side of the rival Manchester United, a voice is raised in favor of the South American striker, it is Dwight Yorke, ex-Red Devils striker. The former Trinidadian international praised the qualities of the native of Artigas. He even said he preferred Nunez to the young Mancunian striker, Rasmus Hojlund, acquired by United for 73.90 million euros last summer.
“Darwin Nunez can lead Liverpool to Premier League glory”
“If I could, I would trade Rasmus Hojlund for Darwin Nunez because he has more guts”Yorke said at the microphone of BoyleSports.“He’s got speed, power, he can head, he’s got presence – he just needs to improve his finishing and he’d be the best striker in the league.”
“We have to wait and see if he can do it, but as a manager I would choose Nunez over Hojlund any time of the week, he confided. Darwin Nunez can lead Liverpool to Premier League glory, 100 per cent.
“He has all the qualities required, he is only 25 years old and he is still learning,” he continued. “He just has to practice finishing from different attacking positions and when he comes out in the game he has to be calm and collected and not be so erratic.”
