West Brom forward Daryl Dike cut a highly emotional figure as he was forced off through injury in their clash at Ipswich.

The 23-year-old was making just his fifth appearance of the season for the Baggies during their trip to Portman Road.

Dike missed the first-half of their Championship campaign whilst recovering from surgery on his Achilles tendon.

And his injury woes were unfortunately on show once again on Saturday as he had to be substituted just ten minutes after he came on.

The American replaced Brandon Thomas-Asante in the 55th minute but, not long after he entered the fray, he went down with another injury.

Dike was able to rise back to his feet but then required assistance as he made his way to the sidelines, with his left leg appearing to be the issue.

He couldn't hold back his emotion and was visibly teary as he made his way off the pitch on a buggy as fans at Portman Road applauded him, with John Swift his replacement.

Dike's spell at West Brom since signing at the beginning of 2022 has been blighted by different injuries.

The forward made his first start for the club in a 3-0 win over Peterborough but he picked up a hamstring injury and missed the rest of the campaign.

Thigh problems saw him miss the first-half of the 2022/23 season, with his Achilles injury being sustained in April.

Dike returned to action in West Brom's FA Cup third round victory against Aldershot last month, with the American international scoring.

He then made three substitute appearances in the Championship prior to Saturday afternoon, which ended in unfortunate circumstances.

West Brom and Ipswich went on to share the points in a 2-2 draw as both sides push for promotion to the Premier League.

Tom Fellows opened the scoring before Nathan Broadhead's response from the hosts, and substitute Swift's goal for the Baggies looked to be the winner but Omari Hutchinson levelled it late on.
