Dave Bautista lost a huge amount of weight for a recent roll, and looks to be keeping it off.
The former WWE star dropped over 70lbs for his latest movies, The Killer’s Game. The weight loss has given him a much different look, and one that that has helped him earn different roles than normal.
Dave Bautista spoke with Chris Van Vliet, who asked about his recent weight loss. He revealed that he got fat for a previous role, and had to lose weight because of that.
“I started trimming down for a particular reason. Why? I got fat. I got really big for a role, and it was uncomfortable. And I was around 315 lbs, and I put the weight on really fast. I had to gain it between films, and I had a very short period of time to do it. I packed it on with French fries and pancakes.”
“They didn’t want me to look like a powerlifter—just a great big guy. Looking back, I probably overdid it. I was probably a little too big, but at the time, I just kept thinking, ‘I’ve got to get big. I’ve got to get big.’ I put on an uncomfortable amount of weight, and it took forever to shed it.”
Dave Bautista: I Look Like A Gorilla Next To Other Actors
Dave Bautista continued. He joked that he looks like a gorilla next to other actors, even when fans are worried about his sudden weight loss.
The former WWE Champion added that he is restricted on his calories now, eating much less than he is used to eating while bodybuilding.
“Then I noticed the more I trimmed down, the better I felt. I also realized I looked better on camera and next to other actors. People say things like, ‘God, you’re skinny!’ Some people online even worry about my health. But when I tell them I’m 6’4″ and 240 lbs, they’re surprised. That sounds big, but because people have seen me much bigger over the years, they think I’m anorexic now.”
“At 6’4″ and 240 lbs, I still look huge next to the typical actor. I look like a gorilla, and it’s distracting. So, I’ll probably lose a few more pounds. Honestly, I’m killing myself to stay this trim. I’m training hard, and my calories are pretty restricted—around 2,500 a day, which, for me, isn’t much. I’m not starving, but I’m doing intermittent fasting. I haven’t eaten yet, and it’s almost 1:00 PM. I also stop eating three to four hours before bed, so it’s just not a lot of food.”
