Dave Chappelle Wins Fifth Comedy Album Grammy For ‘What’s In A Name’

Dave Chappelle won the Best Comedy Album Grammy on Sunday for the second year in a row, beating Louis CK, among other contenders, with his What’s In A Name?

Chappelle’s fifth win in eight years and second in a row moves him into a tie with Richard Pryor and George Carlin for second-most career comedy Grammys. The latter holds the nominations record with 16. Bill Cosby remains the all-time leader in the category, winning seven times, including six straight from 1965-70.

Chappelle beat out fellow nominees Trevor Noah’s I Wish You Would, Wanda Sykes’ I’m An Entertainer, Chris Rock’s Selective Outrage, Sarah Silverman’s Someone You Love and Dave Chappelle’s What’s in a Name? for the prize.

Chappelle was not at Sunday’s pre-show ceremony at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Bill Cosby remains the all-time leader in the Comedy Album category, winning seven Grammys including six straight from 1965-70. Richard Pryor and George Carlin — who amassed a record 16 noms in the category — have five each.
