The 53-year-old actor will join original stars, including Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard, in the forthcoming seventh installment in the horror franchise. Similarly, Scott and Matthew‘s characters died in the third and first movies respectively. Details regarding how his character comes back and the film’s plot are currently under wraps, according to Deadline, which broke the news. Deputy Dewey Riley was killed in the fifth movie by Amber Freeman, played by new Oscar winner Mikey Madison. The character first appears in the original movie as the older brother of Tatum Riley (Rose McGowan) as the clumsy police deputy trying to help solve the murders in their town of Woodsboro. The deputy was married to Gale Weathers, played by Courteney, who will reprise the role in Scream 7. Dewey killed Scott’s character Roman Bridger, secret brother of Sydney Prescott in Scream 3.
