Losc shot themselves in the foot on Sunday by depriving themselves of important players such as Jonathan David, Thomas Meunier and Rémy Cabella at kick-off against PSG.
One controversy quickly chased away another on Sunday in Lille. Upset by the refereeing of Mr. Bastien and his assessors at the end of the match of the 3e Ligue 1 matchday, Bruno Genesio and Olivier Létang naturally deplored Losc’s defeat against PSG (1-3), feeling aggrieved by a second northern goal invalidated for offside via VAR, in total confusion.
A few hours before the match, the Dogues had already reserved a small controversy internally. The Lille coach, with the blessing of his president, had taken the decision to exclude from his starting eleven the key players Jonathan David, Thomas Meunier and Rémy Cabella. This was for disciplinary reasons.
Genesio didn’t like it
The first two – and the second goalkeeper Vito Mannone – had the nerve the day before to skip the collective dinner scheduled at the Luchin estate; an alternative to the traditional greening sessions wanted by Bruno Genesio to strengthen ties before the important meetings of the season. Rémy Cabella, for his part, had arrived late for the Sunday morning pre-match session.
The three players concerned finally came into play when the score was 0-2 for the Parisians. In the 66th minute for Thomas Meunier and Jonathan David, replacing Aïssa Mandi and Mohamed Bayo – in the 85th minute for Rémy Cabella, in place of Tiago Santos. Changes that have the merit of giving a boost to the northerners’ ambitions. And perhaps some regrets as well.
