Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke better known as Davido has extended love to the Coalition of Orphanages and Children’s Home in Nigeria (COCHIN) after they appreciated the Afrobeats musician for his financial support toward the less privileged children and orphans.
Recall, the 31-year-old singer during his 29th birthday donated N250m to orphanages across Nigeria.
The father of five also donated the sum of N237m to 424 orphanages and Paroche Reach Out Foundation for the prevention of drug abuse nationwide in 2022, bringing his total donation to orphanages to about N800m in two years.
Speaking recently, the coalition, in a letter seen by this publication, sent to the singer, said 42 out of the 52 orphanages under the coalition benefitted from Davido’s support in February 2024.
Dr Eze Ajoku, the coalition’s president, noted that no other Nigerian or government had ever supported the orphanages the way Davido did.
Ajoku further promised to ensure that the funds are used judiciously.
TheNewsGuru.com reports that the singer recently said that the donations was part of his yearly contribution to the needy in the country.
The letter reads in part, “Our heartfelt appreciation for your financial support to the Coalition of Orphanages and Children’s Homes in Nigeria (COCHIN)
“In reference to the above, we write on behalf of the above association (the umbrella body of Orphanages and Children’s Homes in Nigeria), to acknowledge the receipt of your support funds to our members across the country in the month of February 2024.
“We are pleased to inform you that a total of 42 orphanages out of the 52 under the coalition benefitted from the funds support.
“Permit me to therefore extend our (COCHIN’s) sincere and deepest gratitude for this generous support. We are very happy to note that no other Nigerian has ever done this for the orphanages, neither has the governments given us such a magnanimous support before.
“This support which is a demonstration of your commitment to social responsibility and loving care to these forgotten Nigerian children will go a very long way in making profound impact in their lives. These less privileged children and orphans are grateful that you have done this for them as well as inspiring those of us who are the managers in the implementation of sustainable care giving initiatives generally.
“While assuring you of our dedication at ensuring judicious use of the resources, we exercise no doubt that you will continue to be a beacon of hope for the less privileged,” it added.
Reacting to the letter, the singer via his verified X handle, shared the letter with a ‘love’ emoji.
