The Development Bank of Nigeria won two awards at the Global SME Finance Forum Conference Awards held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

In a recent statement, the bank’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Tony Okpanachi, received the accolades for the SME Financier of the Year—Africa Award and the SME Financier of the Year—Global Champion DFI, IFI Guarantee Agency Award.

The awards were presented to DBN in recognition of its role as an enabler of micro, small and medium enterprises’ growth in Nigeria.

Okpanachi expressed pride in the achievements, stating, “We’re excited and this recognition honours our unwavering commitment to empowering MSMEs and fostering innovation in MSME finance. We are incredibly proud to be recognised as global leaders in this space.

“We are honoured to receive this recognition and will continue driving impactful change in the financial landscape.”

The PUNCH reports that the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, recently lauded the Development Bank of Nigeria for its contributions to the growth of MSMEs in the country.
