The Telangana State Drugs Control Administration (DCA), along with officers from the Prohibition and Excise Department, conducted raids on two hospitals in Hyderabad on Friday. The hospitals targeted were Bakoban Hospital in Chandrayangutta and BVK Reddy Hospital in Warasiguda, Secunderabad.
During the raids, officials discovered that both hospitals were illegally storing narcotic drugs without the required NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) license. Among the drugs found were fentanyl injections in 50 mcg/ml ampoules, which were being kept for illegal sale.
In addition to fentanyl, other psychotropic substances were also uncovered. These included ketamine hydrochloride injections in 50 mg/ml vials and midazolam injections in 1 mg/ml vials. These drugs are controlled substances and require strict regulation.
Cases have been filed under the NDPS Act at the Charminar and Musheerabad Prohibition and Excise stations against those involved. V B Kamalasan Reddy, Director General of the DCA, stated that further investigations will be conducted, and legal action will be taken against the offenders.
