There has been a lot of speculation about Kieran Trippier.
What the near future will hold for him, whether he will still be at Newcastle United when the new Premier League season kicks off in three weeks time.
An interesting update now from The Times on what the position is.
In an exclusive, they have reported that Eddie Howe has held a meeting with Kieran Trippier.
The Times stating that in this meeting, their information is that the Newcastle United Head Coach told Kieran Trippier that he wants him to stay at Newcastle United next season, telling the England international that he was still a key part of his plans for the new season.
With now just 11 months remaining of his current contract, the report says that Kieran Trippier has been reassured that talks will begin soon on extending that deal, that the changes at the club (Amanda Staveley and Dan Ashworth leaving, Paul Mitchell arriving) had delayed those talks on a new contract.
The Times saying that Eddie Howe has made clear Newcastle United can’t afford to lose the contribution Kieran Trippier makes, in attack as well as defence, plus as his regular matchday captain.
Trippier is one of those internationals who has been given extra time off and so won’t be involved at Hull today in Newcastle’s friendly match.
However, Kieran Trippier expected to join up with the rest of the Newcastle United first-team squad in the near future.
