It is no secret that Barcelona are actively exploring the possibility of signing Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig, even though they are also likely to acquire Nico Williams this summer.

Recently, Mundo Deportivo reported that Deco, a key figure in Barcelona’s management, met with Olmo’s agent to discuss potential contract terms.

Now, it must be noted that club president Joan Laporta has a strong preference for Nico, but the club sees Olmo as an excellent market opportunity to strengthen their squad.

The meeting between Olmo’s agent, Juanma Lopez, and Deco took place in Barcelona on Tuesday. This meeting followed a series of discussions that have been ongoing, especially highlighted during the Euro Cup.

Olmo’s clause was discussed

A critical aspect of this potential transfer is the expiration of a clause in Olmo’s contract on Saturday, July 20.

This clause would allow Olmo to leave Leipzig for a fee of €60 million. As this deadline approaches, the next few hours are crucial in determining Olmo’s future.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have already made significant progress in negotiating potential contract terms with the player, and it is clear that he is open to the idea of returning to Barcelona, a club that he left at the age of 16 to join Dinamo Zagreb.

European powerhouses want Olmo

Interestingly, Barcelona are not the only club interested in Olmo. Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also in the race to sign him

These clubs have a financial advantage over Barcelona, making them capable of meeting the €60 million release clause before the Saturday deadline without needing any reductions.

If the deadline passes, any club interested in Olmo would need to negotiate a new transfer fee with Leipzig.

In addition, Atletico Madrid have also shown interest in Olmo, especially after the recent departure of Alvaro Morata to Milan. Morata is also represented by Lopez, linking him to the ongoing discussions.
