Deco, the sporting director of Barça, spoke about the profile targeted by the club for the future coach.

FC Barcelona sporting director Deco surprised the club by declaring that they needed to find a coach who would “break” from the club’s traditional playing methods. The Blaugrana DNA could thus be abandoned.

Barça will break with its tradition

Deco is actively seeking a replacement for Deco, who will leave at the end of the season. And he declared to Nascer do Sol: “ New leadership is essential and the President agrees with me on this point. A profound change is necessary. There is a method that is exhausted. We need to discover someone who breaks with the past once and for all and moves towards a new paradigm.”

The Portuguese also clarified that it is out of the question to break the bank for the future coach. “ We have a serious financial problem and that’s one of the reasons I was hired. We don’t have money for the investments made by other millionaire clubs and that discourages any coach. At the moment, we cannot provide these means.”

Klopp (Liverpool), Imanol Alguacil (Real Sociedad), Michel (Girona), Thiago Motta (Bologna), Hansi Flick (without a club), Rúben Amorim (Sporting CP), Julian Nagelsmann (Germany), Thomas Tuchel (Bayern Munich) and Rafael Márquez (Barça B) are all cited as candidates for the position of coach of FC Barcelona.
