According to a report by Gabriel Sans in Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, is eager to finalise the situation with Alex Valle by the end of this week.
The 20-year-old full-back has been included in the squad travelling to the United States for Barcelona’s pre-season tour. However, despite this inclusion, Valle’s future with the club remains uncertain, and Deco is actively working to resolve this matter.
Valle, who spent the previous season on loan at Levante, has returned to Barcelona and his current contract is set to run until 2025, but it includes an automatic renewal clause that expires on August 1.
Terms of Valle’s contract extension
If the club decides to activate this clause, Valle’s contract would be extended, and his release clause would be increased to €30 million, alongside a significant salary raise of over €1 million.
But if they choose not to trigger this clause, Valle would continue to be paid at the reserve team level, and his release clause would drop from €8 million to €3 million.

At present, all parties involved are keen to come to a friendly resolution. Valle has expressed his desire to stay with Barcelona and has not considered any offers from other clubs. The club also seems inclined to keep him for now.
During the USA tour, Hansi Flick wants to evaluate Valle’s performance in the matches before making a final decision. If Flick decides against keeping Valle, the club will need to address his salary increment.
The situation with Barcelona’s full-backs is quite complex at the moment. The team is currently pursuing the signing of Joao Cancelo and if he joins, Barcelona will have three right-backs, not counting Jules Kounde.
Although Valle may lack experience at the top level, his technical skills and sense of positioning make him a promising candidate for Barcelona. However, his future largely depends on the club’s transfer activities.
