Delta State Government has advised youths in the state to enroll in the ongoing military recruitment exercise.

Also, the government assured the recruitment team from the Nigerian Army Headquarters of its commitment to ensure that Delta youths enroll in the ongoing 88th regular recruitment exercise into the Army for Trades/Non-Trades-Men.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, gave the assurance on Monday during a visit to his office in Asaba by the team from the Army Headquarters led by Brigadier General Nwito Nzidee.

Emu disclosed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was committed to making sure that more Delta youths get recruited into the military and other paramilitary services.

This, according to him, was why the governor set up a committee on awareness creation on youth enlistment in the military and paramilitary services with the Commissioner for Youth Development as the chairman and other members drawn from relevant government agencies to sensitize youths on the opportunity they stand to gain when they join the military and other para-military agencies.

The SSG noted that there was a noticeable improvement in the last recruitment exercise as a lot of sensitization was carried out by the committee.

He urged them to do more so that more Delta youths would be aware of the recruitment exercise and take advantage of it.

Earlier, the leader of the team, Brigadier General Wilto said they were in Delta for a sensitization exercise and called on the government to do more in getting youths to register in the online recruitment portal of the Nigerian Army.

He stated that States that were unable to fill their quota were the greatest losers as applications from interested States will be used to fill the spaces that other States could not fill up which will be a disadvantage to the State in the long run.

The online application, which began on the 30th of September 2024, will end on the 8th of November, 2024.
