Ousmane Dembélé was not spared from criticism after his half-hour against Italy with the French team.
Ousmane Dembélé was one of the most criticized players after the French team’s defeat (1-3) at home against Italy in the Nations League. The last few months have been complicated for the Paris Saint-Germain player with the jersey on his shoulders. He has only been decisive once in the last 14 games he has played with Les Bleus. It was against Gibraltar, for his only goal in four years with Les Bleus, amidst inconsistent performances and chronic irregularity.
Against Italy, Dembélé came on in the 58th minute of play in place of Michael Olise. It would be an understatement to say that he did not give as much satisfaction as the Bayern Munich debutant. Between technical imprecision and poorly controlled strikes, the former Barcelona player did not weigh in a disappointing last half hour on the part of the Tricolores. In the wake of the match, a photograph that went viral made the rounds of the networks, where we see Ousmane Dembélé staring in the opposite direction to the one in which the ball went after his strike…
“This player is a misunderstanding”
To make matters worse, “Dembouz” unintentionally injured Ricardo Calafiori, the Arsenal defender, after a pirouette following a tackle on him. These scenes where we see the player trained at Stade Rennais not to his advantage were highlighted on RMC during the post-match, whether by Daniel Riolo or one of the listeners who went on air.
“I wish Dembélé’s brain was studied by science. I don’t understand how he can be so good at dribbling and not use the right surface of his foot. How can his brain not send him the right information?”the listener said, corroborated by Riolo.
“I agree with you, it’s no longer possible. It’s true, I absolutely agree with that. For me, this player is a misunderstanding.”
Ousmane Dembélé will once again be in Didier Deschamps’ rotation to face Belgium on Monday evening, still in the Nations League.
