The growing estrangement between FC Barcelona and Sergi Roberto has become a major point of discussion.

From being guaranteed continuity to staring at an exit, the future of the ex-Barcelona captain has taken a complete U-turn in recent months.

Three clubs ready to go in for Roberto

Now, according to Catalunya Radio Aston Villa, West Ham United, and AFC Ajax have all emerged as suitors for Sergi Roberto’s signature on a free transfer.

Sporting director Deco has personally reached out to the player to ensure that Barcelona’s contract proposal remains on the table, though he has not been able to provide any assurances regarding the player’s registration status.

As such, talk of an exit is gaining traction, with a transfer to the Premier League appearing most likely.

Despite his contract expiring last month, the possibility of Roberto continuing as an FC Barcelona player began doing the rounds with his name still appearing on the club’s official website.

Still, recent reports suggest that Barcelona is on the verge of parting ways with the 32-year-old veteran.

Moreover, Hansi Flick’s response to a question about Roberto during his presentation earlier today further highlighted the possibility of a departure.

When asked about the Spaniard, Flick replied“He’s not Barça player, as things stand.”

Given the German’s comments and Roberto’s exclusion from pre-season training, it seems clear that his future with the team is now closed.

It remains to be seen whether Roberto will consider offers from Aston Villa, Ajax, or West Ham. Given his initial preference for a move to the Premier League, one of these clubs could well become his next destination.

As the season is close to commencing, the uncertainty surrounding Roberto is expected to end once and for all.
