Arriving at Atlético de Madrid in January 2023, Memphis Depay is about to terminate his contract by mutual agreement with his club.

Memphis Depay’s walk is about to resume. Revealed at PSV Eindhoven in 2015, the Dutch international has since played for Manchester United, Olympique Lyonnais, FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid. Transferred to the club in the Spanish capital in the winter of 2023, Depay should not linger and leave this summer.

The information was revealed on Wednesday by Fabrizio Romano. The transfer journalist indicated on his social networks that the two parties had agreed to release the player one year before the end of his initial contract. Memphis Depay would therefore be on the verge of becoming a free agent, and therefore being a potentially interesting deal for certain clubs.

The Euro while waiting

This season, the former OL’s performance has not been transcendent. Not a potential starter under the direction of Diego Simeone (he was only nine times during the last financial year), the striker took part in thirty-one matches with his team, in all competitions, scoring a total of nine goals and providing two assists.

If the separation is officially confirmed, it will then be time for Memphis Depay to find a new base. Now aged thirty, the international will play Euro 2024 with the Netherlands. The opportunity for him to try to shine and showcase himself to attract renowned clubs, he who surely dreams of offering himself a new challenge of choice, in order to relaunch his career.
