Didier Deschamps spoke about Euro 2024. For the French coach, the Blues are one of the favorites, but he issued a warning.

Three years after Euro 2020 was moved to the summer of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the France team will compete in Euro 2024 organized this year in Germany, from June 14 to July 14. Handily qualified for the competition, the Blues will be among the big favorites for final victory. A status which was the same during the 2021 road trip, with an elimination against Switzerland, from the round of 16. An episode still fresh in the memory of Didier Deschamps. Between optimism and caution, the coach mentioned the upcoming Euro.

During an interview broadcast Sunday in Téléfoot, the Basque did not put his head in the sand and initially conceded that the French team would have its card to play. “ We are one of the favorites, we will not hide it. We are going to go there with ambition, obviously, but with the necessary humility too. » But Didier Deschamps also took care to remind us of reality and the right way to approach things: “ The high level is ruthless. If we think that by doing a little less, that will be enough… Well no, that won’t be enough. So be vigilant! »

The program

While waiting for their first match of Euro 2024 scheduled for June 17 against Austria, the players of the France team should have four friendly matches to play to prepare well. Two will take place in March (one of which is already set for March 23, against Germany near Lyon), and two others will be played at the beginning of June, in Bordeaux and Metz.
