Some excellent replies from Eddie Howe when asked about the major changes at Newcastle United this summer.

Sad to see Amanda Staveley leave but stating “I think the club has been really well run AND I think will continue to be really well run.’

Eddie Howe saying Paul Mitchell is an outstanding appointment.

The Head Coach admitting PSR had been tight but a ‘good outcome’ in dealing with it.

Eddie Howe talking to BBC Newcastle – 19 July 2024:

“This summer has been one of change at Newcastle United.

“The previous two and a half years it had been stable, a very good working environment for me and my team and the players. I have to compliment everyone on that.

“I think the club has been really well run AND I think will continue to be really well run.

“There has been a slight change in the board, with Amanda [Staveley] and Mehrdad [Ghodoussi] leaving, they have been incredible for the football club.

“Then of course a new sporting director, we had PSR issues in the summer, so it has been a real summer of work, but I think we have had good outcomes.

“Paul Mitchell is an outstanding sporting director, that has been a very very good decision from the football club.

“PSR was… tight.

“It was very late, a lot of things that happened, but a great outcome.

“Very sad to lose Yankuba [Minteh] and Elliot [Anderson], two outstanding young players.

“It has been unusual compared to other summer breaks for the football club BUT I think we are in a strong position.”
