Dessers Elated To Score Against Ghana, Reflects On Super Eagles’ Performance

Cyriel Dessers is delighted to hit target in Nigeria’s friendly win against the Black Stars of Ghana, reports Completesports.com.

The Super Eagles defeated Otto Addo’s men 2-1 in their keenly contested friendly at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, Morocco on Friday.

Nigeria won a penalty 10 minutes before the break when Kelechi Iheanacho’s shot hit Jeremy Opoku’s arm.

Dessers stepped up to calmly slot the ball home with goalkeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi diving into the wrong direction.

The Rangers forward said it’s a special feeling to score for the Super Eagles against one of their main rivals.

“I asked Kelechi if I could take the penalty , he said you can do ahead Dessers told the Super Eagles media after the game.

“It is always special to take a penalty for the Super Eagles because it is for the whole country and in a special game against Ghana, you definitely want to score.”

Substitute Ademola Lookman scored Nigeria’s second goal of the day seven minutes from time.

Crystal Palace forward, Jordan Ayew however reduced the deficit for the Black Stars from the spot deep into stoppage time.

Dessers reflected on Nigeria’s performance in the game.

“In the first half I think I played a really good game. The second half was a little bit more difficult but I think it was more difficult for the whole team,” added the former Feyenoord player.

“It is a good thing for me to come back to the team and to play a good game, to win an important game. Hopefully , this will be a step up for the future.”
