It’s not often that the SAG Awards stages a movie cast reunion, however, one of the highlights of this year’s actors guild kudofest on streamer Netflix was a lovefest for the 2006 romantic comedy, The Devil Wears Prada with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt taking the stage to present the first award tonight for Male Actor in a Comedy Series (Jeremy Allen White of The Bear won).

“Two things, I forgot my glasses and the envelope,” Streep began taking the mic solo. She was then joined on stage by Blunt carrying the envelope and Hathaway carrying her glasses.

Streep began, “It’s an age-old question, where does the character end, and the actor begin?” Streep began in presenting the award.

Blunt retorted, “Meryl and Miranda Priestly are like twins” referencing Streep’s Anna Wintour-like fierce fashion magazine editor from the movie, a maker and decimator of dreams.

“I don’t think I’m anything like Miranda Priestly!” exclaimed Streep.

Hathaway interjected cooly, “No, no, that wasn’t a question” to laughs in the room.

Streep’s mouth dropped.

“By all means, move at a glacial pace — you know how that thrills me,” Blunt leaned into Streep, quoting Miranda’s catchphrase from the movie.

Though not a 25th or 20th year reunion, it’s nearly an 18-year one for the feature based on the 2003 New York Times bestseller by Lauren Weisberger.

The movie repped some firsts: It was a title in addition to Brokeback Mountain that propelled Hathaway from young adult roles that she made her early career in, i.e. Princess Diaries, into more adult parts.

It also launched Blunt out of a cannon into the leading lady she is today, the actress playing the icy assistant Emily to Streep’s Miranda Priestly. For Streep, the movie scored her one of her 21 Oscar noms.
