Dia Mirza on Khushi and Ibrahim getting trolled for Nadaaniyan
The movie feature an ensemble cast that includes- Dia Mirza, Jugal Hansraj, Mahima Chaudhary and Suniel Shetty. Dia essayed the role of Ibraim’s mother in the movie. Reacting to the harsh criticism and nepotism debate Khushi and Ibrahim have been subjected to, she said to Bombay Times, “I have never been in favour of personal attacks and find them extremely disrespectful. Everyone is free to have an opinion, but it shouldn’t be expressed at the cost of somebody’s mental health. I’ve been concerned, especially for the younger actors, about the harshness of what’s being said. I feel there’s a culture of ‘eat the privileged’, which is harsh because people have their own struggles to deal with.”
Jugal Hansraj, who plays Ibrahim’s father in the film, also echoed Dia’s sentiments a few days back in an interview. Apart from him, Karan Johar also supported the newcomers and said at an event noting a critic writing, ‘I want to kick this film’. Johar said, “When you write like that, I have a problem with that. The use of such language reflects badly on the person and not on the film. Nobody wants to be kicked because kicking is violence. In the real world, words can be equally violent.”
