“I got a call saying that Léa Seydoux had fallen out of his film and that David Cronenberg wanted to offer me the movie,” Diane told Deadline at the festival.

She continued, “I just got the script, and David just happened to be in Paris, so we met and, well, I’d say we immediately hit it off. We talked for hours about the script and why he wanted to make this movie. To be honest, I felt very moved that he asked me to be — basically — his wife in the film.”

Make sure to see photos from the red carpet premiere from the night before!

FYI: Diane is wearing a Jason Wu dress.
