Diddy‘s mom, Janice Combs, has issued her first statement about his legal woes. Janice is breaking her silence amid her son’s piling lawsuits, which began with ex-girlfriend Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura suing him in Nov. 2023. Meanwhile, Sean Combs is still sitting behind bars in Brooklyn, New York City, on felony charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Janice Combs Speaks On Diddy Settling With Cassie
Janice gave her statement to Local 10 News on Sunday (Oct. 6) via Attorney Natlie Figgers. She shared strong words about how the public has seemingly crucified the producer ahead of his trial.
“I come to you today as another that is devastated and profoundly saddened by the allegations made against my son, Sean Combs. It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies. To bear witness to what seems like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.
As her statement continued, Janice Combs said Sean is not perfect. The mother acknowledged that Diddy lied about domestic violence, in particular, his assault on Cassie in 2016 in a hotel hallway. Earlier this year, CNN released never-before-seen footage of the producer kicking, slamming, and throwing a glass vase at his singer ex.
“Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed,” Janice said. Adding that, she believed he settled with Cassie for those reasons and that the settlement is what has caused a domino effect to today’s events.
Mom Says Her Famous Son Is Not A Monster
As previously reported, Diddy has been locked up since Sept. 16. Two Manhattan judges have already denied him bail. On Monday (Sept. 29), Diddy’s legal team reportedly submitted a notice of appeal to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in the Southern District of New York, per USA TODAY. This will be his third time seeking to be on house arrest until the commitment of his trial. Sean has pleaded not guilty on all charges.

In her statement, Janice Combs also asserted that no one is immune from “fear or mistakes.” She again said that Diddy’s failure to disclose the domestic violence doesn’t automatically mean he’s guilty of the allegations in his indictment or active lawsuits.
“Watching the world make jokes and laugh at my son’s life crumbling before our eyes is something I can never forget. It is truly agonizing to watch the world turn against my son so quickly and easily over lies and misconceptions without ever hearing his side or affording him the opportunity to present his side.”
Additionally, Diddy’s mom suggested that Cassie’s lawsuit’s quick settlement brought out folks looking for a “payday.” “This injustice has been unbearable for our family,” she wrote.
“My son is not the monster they have painted him to be, and he deserves the chance to tell his side. I can only pray that I am alive to see him speak his truth and be vindicated,” Mama Combs wrote.
