This Saturday evening, AC Milan traveled to Udinese as part of the 21st day of Serie A. The Milanese won at the end of the match with a score of 3 goals to 2. However, the result of the meeting was not the most important.

In the first half, AC Milan’s French goalkeeper Mike Maignan was the victim of racist cries from Udinese supporters. The French goalkeeper therefore decided to leave the pitch in the 33rd minute of play.

The French international was joined by the rest of his team which caused the temporary stoppage of the match, which was put on hold, before resuming around ten minutes later.

This Sunday evening, national coach Didier Deschamps reacted to the racist insults suffered by his goalkeeper in blue. The boss of the Tricolores did not hesitate to defend his goalkeeper.

“I give all my support to Mike Maignan. What our goalkeeper experienced yesterday in Udine is completely unacceptable. I completely understand his decision to leave the field. Racist insults are unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. Racism has no place anywhere and must be fought relentlessly, » he said in a statement.

Words which should “reassure” Mike Maignan who was able to count on the support of several of his teammates and even football players after this tragic event.
